Chapter 2: The Yellow Hedgehog
CLANK, THUMP “AAAHHHHH!!!!!!” Tessa shoots up out of bed and looks around, “Sorry! I didn't mean to wake up-” Sayano, the yellow hedgehog from before, was holding his head, rubbing a bruise, possibly from the tools that fell down, from the look of the mess on the floor; “WHERE AM I!?” Tessa shouts, drawing her claws and in a pouncing position, “Why shouldn't I tear you apart?” She clearly does not remember waking up and saying something very similar yesterday, but she's much stronger now and the wound has healed enough to move around which would be great news to Sayano, if he wasn't being threatened; however, Sayano picks himself up, dusts himself off and holds his hands on his hips and calmly responds “You said that yesterday as well, I guess it's no surprise you don't remember, seeing as you weren't in any condition to move, let alone be awake” Sayano moves closer to Tessa with open arms, with Tessa moving back slowly, still hissing and bearing her claws. Click Sayano notices that Tessa just knocked the racking and without warning, jumps at Tessa, Tessa flips over Sayano with ease, lands and quickly lunges forwards, ready to attack Sayano as he laid where she had been but as she approaches him, she quickly noticed a large gas canister tipped and started to fall towards Sayano.
“Life is precious” Tessa recalled the words her guardian taught her and so, she continues to move and with her quick speed, used the kinetic energy of her speed to push the canister up through the ceiling and through the roof, where it exploded from the force Tessa impacted onto it. Tessa looks down at Sayano and told him in a cold tone “I saved you, but if you value your life, you will stay away from me”, Sayano turns over, sitting with his hands supporting him body and replies “I saved you twice, you could have died if that canister hit-” “DON'T LIE TO ME!” Tessa snaps back, grinning her sharp teeth, “You wanted to kill me and failed, then when I was knocked out, you took me here to give me away to someone who wanted me dead”. Sayano looks at her with a confused look, how did any of that make sense? But nonetheless, Sayano picked himself back up, Tessa backing up, getting her claws ready once again “Have you even checked your stomach?” Sayano points to Tessa; She looks down and notices a bandage, she looks up at Sayano, unsure what is happening; Sayano takes a step closer, Tessa responds with a step back so Sayano explained; “I was working on my car, trying to get it fixed, it wouldn't start. I tinkered with it until I thought I found the component that got it working, I got it working and took it out for a test drive, unfortunately, the thing is, I threw away some other parts which ended up being the brakes and throttle catch, so when I accelerated, the car was stuck in the highest speed, without the brakes, I couldn't stop the car and I didn't want to crash it. I noticed you were in front of me and I called to you to move, but you just stood there, so I had to steer it and cause it to crash to avoid you. I must be lucky though, as I forgot to wear my seatbelt and was thrown from the car”.
Tessa lowers her guard a little, “So.....You.....Weren't trying to kill me?” Tessa questioned Sayano and lowered her claw before raising them back up quickly, “How do I know this isn't a trick? I know you came out of that.....Car thing and I had you at my feet so don't try to make things up” Sayano again, points to her stomach; Tessa looks again and as she looks and holds where the wound had been, Sayano continued “There was an explosion as well, it knocked us both out but I don't know for how long. When I came to, it was raining and you were not only covered in blood, you were losing a lot of it, I managed to apply some quick first aid but it wasn't enough and I had to carry you here, where I had more supplies to work with. It was hard and I nearly used all my medicine just to hold your wound to stop the bleeding”.
Tessa lowered her claws again, this time, retracting them completely and holding the bandage gently; she looks back up to Sayano to ask a curious question “Did anything else happen? Because I noticed you weren't too scared of me, even though we never met”, unbeknownst to her what had happened after the first time she woke up, Sayano filled her in on what had happened and how she was lucky the wound didn't reopen. Sayano walks over to the garage doors and opens them up, Tessa looks behind her, the rain had cleared up, the sun was shining but most important, the forest was no where to be seen, clearly he had come a long way, carrying her in the pouring wet rain just to help, Tessa asks for her staff, to which Sayano steps to one side of the opening and picks up her staff, which was laying down by the door, just like he said.
Tessa walks over to Sayano and takes her staff back “Thank you, now I will make my way home” Tessa walks out, with her staff in her hands, “WAIT! Why don't you stay here? Until you have a real home to go to?” Tessa ignores him and continues to walk, leaving Sayano behind. Sayano closes the doors and as he locks up, he smiles, knowing he managed to save someone, even if it was his own fault and proceeds back into his house, where he would continue working on other projects.
2 days had passed and Sayano hasn't seen any signs on Tessa, which made Sayano feel a little sad, as it's the first person he's interacted with that actually thanked him for something, I wonder where that cat lady went, he ponders as a knock is heard from his garage door, just as he enters his garage, the doors are blasted down and a large amount of dust fills the room, with Sayano choking and gasping for air; “SAY-AN-O”, a familiar voice could be heard but he couldn't make out who it was with the dust, but whoever it was, they sounded very angry “SAYANO!!!! WHERE ARE YOU!?”, as the dust cleared, Sayano could finally see who it was, it was Tessa, the cat lady, but she looked really angry but why? They haven't seen each other for 2 days, “Uhhh, Hi again Cat Lady......Why are you mad?” Sayano asks in a very frightened manner. “YOU BROKE MY STAFF YOU IDIOT!” Tessa screams as she slowly walks closer to Sayano, who was confused about what was happening, “I don't know if you did your 'tinkering' or if it was that stupid car's explosion, but you broke my staff!”.
Sayano looks at the staff in her hand and responds, once again in a frightened tone “It...It...It looks okay to me” He smiles, as to try and calm things down, but this only made Tessa more angry and she proceeds to punch him in the head, sending Sayano flying into the garage wall. Tessa walks up to Sayano and reveals a button that she clicks and the staff falls apart in half, with the left handle dropping to the ground with a chain on it; Tessa screams again “IT'S NOT MEANT TO DO THAT! DO YOU UNDERSTAND!? FIX IT!”, Sayano picks up both pieces and begins working on fixing the staff, as he gets to work on fixing the staff, Tessa stays where she is but begins to smile “My name is Tessa, Tessa Mayves” She tells Sayano in her normal voice; Sayano turns around in joy to learn her name and smiles, before Tessa points to him with an angry expression “GET BACK TO WORK!” and so, Sayano rushes back to working on the staff in haste, but he did so with a smile........A friend, they both thought; A Real Friend.
